Leah graduated from the University of Victoria School of Nursing in 2010 and moved to Powell River shortly after. She worked in both acute care and mental health nursing before finding her calling in residential care. A strong belief in the benefits of team nursing in regards to elder care brought her to take on the role of part-time instructor in the Health Care Assistant Program in 2012. Leah is committed to providing a quality learning experience for Health Care Assistant students as she believes that HCAs play a vital role in providing safe, quality care to our elders. Leah teaches in both the clinical and theory portions of the program and enjoys watching and supporting the metamorphosis from student to caregiver. In addition to team nursing and leadership, Leah is also very interested in educating staff, students, and herself regarding dementia and dementia care.
